“GO CASSIE! GO SARAH! GO GIRLS!!” That’s what I could hear as I was running. It was so fun I couldn’t stop smiling as the boys yelled at the top of their lungs. I was actually very encouraged when I could hear the boys screaming as loud as they could. It was so funny but SUPER encouraging to me. Other girls in the Rangi team even said they were so loud and funny it was encouraging. As the last girl made it to the finish line all the girls had to go back to the starting area and sit down to wait for the boys to run. For the girls there was a whistle but for the boys there was a whole blow horn.
Some of the girls sat down on the mats, some even sat on chairs and A LOT of people waited for the boys to make it around the corner so we could start yelling as loud as we could. As expected Gabriel was first to run around the corner then I am pretty sure it was Armani then Iverson to run. Me and Xzandra-Leigh were 100 percent the loudest but Xzandra-Leigh stopped cheering and she left me alone. But that didn’t stop me from screaming as loud as I possibly could. I told Sarah to join me in cheering the boys and she helped me. “GO GABRIEL! GO ARMANI! GO IVERSON!!”. Me and Sarah were yelling so much for them since they were the first ones around the corner.
A lot of other boys started to make it across to the corner side. Me and Sarah were cheering for everyone even if we weren’t friends with them or if we didn’t even talk. We and Sarah were screaming as we were cheering for everyone. We knew the boys cheered for us when we were running so of course we had to cheer as loud as we could. It was so fun and amazing. After like ten to thirty boys made it past the corner Gabriel made it to the finish line. I think he is very fast. But turns out the top three boys were in third place, Genesis, second was Iverson and first was Gabriel.
I think we started cross country training in about week one to four.We had been training for ages. Everyone was relieved and happy that there will be no more cross country training early in the morning. I liked running in the morning because it is very nice exercise. I usually run when I am at home but instead of just running I listen to music while running because it makes me more calm and being calm helps me to run further with less of a chance that I will stop. Whetu agrees that it is better to listen to music while running.
Running in school can sometimes be hard because there are sometimes children running in my way and pushing or there can be people walking on the sidewalks. Running in school is a tiny bit fun because I can run with my friends but when I am at home I just listen to music while running.
I love cross country but personally in my opinion I think that winning doesn’t take priority. To me, having fun and trying your best is definitely a priority. I’m not upset that I didn’t come first but next time I will definitely strive to be number one.
In conclusion, I think running is more fun at home than at school but it can be good at school depending on who I am running next to. I also think it is better to run while listening to music because it makes me calm.
